Pre-martial Counseling/ Therapy
Curious about premarital counseling/therapy? This is a process that couples go through to help each partner to know what to expect from one another before they marry. The therapist assists the couple in determining if they are on the same page on major areas in the relationship, no question is off-limits. During premarital therapy, the therapist will ask the couple to go beyond the in-the-moment “love” feeling to the heart of the matter in many areas in the relationship.
Remember, it’s not the therapist's job to say yes or no to the marriage. Instead, you will be asked questions that inform your decision to marry or not. Some of your sessions will focus on:
Marriage expectations
Marital roles and beliefs
Baggage that may be brought into the marriage -how does your past impact your future together
How the couple deals with conflict and plans for resolving conflict in the future
Beliefs about money -and money management
Intimacy and sex concerns present and future
Each other’s view on how to foster healthy communication
Children -whether or not to have them
Blending family concerns
Views on parenting
